Creators, Meteorologists and Geometrists!

Panda Class is full of budding Creators, Meteorologists and Geometrists this week! What a lot of interesting careers we have set in the making through our music, maths and new geography lessons this week. 

We have had such fun creating musical instruments and everybody created the instrument of their choice, from the smallest guitar to the largest rainmaker, sets of drum kits and a wonderful trumpet, we had it all.  The children performed as though they were the orchestra and created a joyous cacophony of sounds!

We began our new geography topic this week on Why does the weather change so much? A question we often ask especially when it is constantly raining or freezing one day and 10 degrees warmer the next!  We have started to look at weather symbols and had lots of fun creating our own. 

In maths we have started looking at 2D shapes and thinking about how the number of sides/ straight edges relate to the number of vertices/corners.  We have learnt that a vertex is where two straight edges meet or vertices when you count how many a shape has.  I am sure our budding geometrists can hunt around their homes spotting all of the vertices- help them practice using the word by going on a vertices hunt!

In English we have been busy learning about information posters and how we use headings and subheadings to organise our information to make it easier to find.  We have been doing this through our book all about Penguins who live in Antarctica which is a polar desert and is the coldest place on Earth!  Well done Panda Class for listening carefully and organising your writing clearly with lots of examples of commas, exclamation marks and conjunctions.  Great Job!

Thank you to every parent for finding just 5 minutes a night to hear your child read and practice the phonic sounds.  It it really helping and makes such a difference to their confidence in all areas of learning.
