What's the Weather!

What a busy week it has been in Giraffe Class!

We have continued our adventures in Antarctica, using our non-fiction text to research lots of fascinating facts about penguins. The children then used what they learned to create some wonderful information posters. They were very surprised to discover how baby penguins get their food—ask them at home and see what reaction you get!

In Maths, we have moved on to exploring both 2D and 3D shapes. The children have been practising naming the shapes and describing their properties, such as the number of sides and vertices. We have also been drawing them and building them using different types of apparatus.

As part of our Geography learning, we have begun looking at different types of weather. The children explored various weather symbols and created their own in different ways. They then linked this knowledge to the four seasons and the types of weather we usually associate with each—although, being typically British, we all know it’s possible to experience all four seasons in just one day!

Next week, we will begin Christmas in style. We are hoping for a visit from one of the Kindness Elves, who will also help keep an eye on us in class! Rehearsals for our Christmas production will begin, and the dates have already been shared; you’ll also find a poster displayed on the classroom window. If you are struggling to find a costume, please do pop in and speak to us—we’re very happy to help.

Have a wonderful weekend!
