HAPPY NEW YEAR and WELCOME BACK

It has been so lovely to see everyone back after the holidays and have 100% attendance.  WELL DONE Beetles!

This week we have been reminding ourselves of previous learning and applying it to problem solving in Maths.  Reinforcing those key skills of adding and subtracting from 2 digit numbers crossing the 10s, and being able to SHOW our working out is a really important skill and the children worked hard using their whiteboards to show how they arrived at the answers.

In our life skills lesson we thought about medicine as a drug that can help us if it used in the right way but talked about the dangers if used incorrectly.  The children had some really sensible suggestions about how to store it safely; how it should only be given by an adult and knew that sometimes we don't need medicine to make us better; sometimes we just need rest, relaxation and a calm quiet space.  SUPER LEARNING BEETLES!

Finally we ended our week with our topic BANG! We had fun creating the seven continents of the world and starting to learn the names of the 5 oceans. We moved around the classroom from the top bunk to the bottom bunk ( North and South America) We swam across the ocean to Europe, moved down to Africa to see the Loins and Elephants; across to Asia to look at the Pandas; Swam to see Australasia/Oceana and then finally down to the bottom of the world to the freezing cold Antarctica.  Great Work Beetles you made it around the world in 1 hour rather than 80 days!
