Westbury Infant School and Resource Base

Friday 3rd December

This week our Year 2 children have been learning about the artist Georgia O'Keefe.  She was an artist who loved nature and liked to paint flowers in bold, bright colours.  At the beginning of the week, our Year 2s collected natural objects from around the school.  They then used magnifying glasses to look up close and tried out different sketching techniques to draw what they could see.

In Year 1 this week, the children have been designers and engineers; joining materials in different ways and making different structures. They  used spaghetti and marshmallows and tried to build strong structures. It linked really well with their trip to Lacock and maths learning.

Our Reception children have been looking at shapes this week and have been matching and sorting different shapes.  They have looked for shapes in the environment and made pictures from them.
