Westbury Infant School and Resource Base

Friday 21st January 2022

This week we have had lots of fun reading the story of ‘The Naughty Bus’. The children have loved creating maps, taking the bus on an adventure and even making up their own version of the story. Look what ‘The Naughty Bus’ got up to around the school.

As part of our Knowledge and Understanding of the world learning, the children have enjoyed finding out about their local area through the use of ‘google earth’. We looked at an aerial view of the school and also discovered that there is a Westbury School in Barbados. We virtually had a look at the school and compared the locations. Following on from learning about our school, the children then went on a hunt around the school to find the naughty bus and mark it on a map.

In our Maths learning, we have continued to learn about what numbers add together to make 3,4 and 5. We created a den and some children hid in the den and some sat outside whilst the rest of the class closed their eyes and when they looked up they had to say how many children they could see and how many were hiding. We then used the small teddies and bowls to practice hiding different amounts up to five and our friends had to say how many were hidden.

We continued to work on our balancing skills this week in PE. The children had to walk forwards and backwards along a straight line balancing so they didn’t wobble off the lines.

In our continuous provision the children have had fun creating maps on large pieces of paper. Look at some of the maps created.
