Busy Beetles
In Science we have been learning about plants. We took this opportunity to learn outside of the classroom. There are lots of plants in our school grounds (even in this autumn season). We observed the effect autumn had had on the plants and what they could look like at other times in the year. Take a look at the pictures of us being Scientists! We noticed tree trunks, stems of plants, leaves (some green and lots of crunchy, brown ones), flowers, and we even found some bulbs that had been dug up.
We have also looked at the life cycle of a plant and found out that plants are living things. When a sunflower dies, the seeds fall to the ground and the cycle starts again!
In Maths we have been using 100 squares to find our number bonds to 100. We tried to solve missing number calculations (eg 47 + __=100). We represented the part we knew on the 100 square and counted up the rest to find the part we didn't. We made sure we avoided the year 2 curse of adding up to 110 by making 10 ones and 9 more tens.
We have also continued to add and subtract 2 digit numbers using tens frames and dienes.
We are very proud of our learning. Have a look at some pictures of us being Busy Beetles.
